The healthy weight range is based on a measurement calculated from a person’s weight and height known as the body mass index (BMI).

Before commencing any weight loss diet plan it's important to understand the principles behind a BMI calculator.



The standard weight status categories associated with BMI ranges for adults are shown in the following table.

BMI Weight Status
Below 18.5 Underweight
18.5 – 24.9 Ideal
25.0 – 29.9 Overweight
30.0 and Above Obese

To determine your current BMI simply enter your height in inches and weight in pounds into the boxes and click the calculator button.

If you prefer enter your height in metres with decimal point eg 1.5 and weight in kilos into the boxes and click the calculator button.

Remember that by following the Cretan Bowl Diet you are aiming for YOUR healthy shape and weight. This could be anywhere in the ‘Ideal’ range of 18.5 – 24.9.

Your healthy shape and weight is very much down to your basic body frame and the amount of muscle you have. Bear this in mind before commencing any weight loss diet plan.

A BMI measurement is not as accurate if you're an athlete or very muscular (muscle weighs more than fat) as this can push you into a higher BMI category even if you have a healthy level of body fat.

It's also not accurate for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or people who are frail.

Bear this is mind and use your BMI along with your weight, tape measurements and how clothes are fitting you to give you an overall picture of how well you are doing by following the Cretan Bowl Diet.
