Staying motivated on the Cretan Bowl Diet…

This Staying Motivated Page is from the Cretan Bowl Diet website that offers advice and information on health and weight loss.

The diet itself is based on the scientifically proven healthiest diet in the world - the Cretan diet.

Staying Motivated

STAYING MOTIVATED

Being inspired and staying motivated on any diet can be the biggest challenge in losing excess weight. But the Cretan Bowl Diet is different.

It is so easy to follow; completely satisfying, banishing hunger pangs and cravings. It is so varied that it doesn’t seem like a slimming diet at all making diet motivation easy.

But if you do have moments when you feel doubtful you’ll reach your healthy shape and weight then follow these simple tips for success.

Temptation

Staying motivated is easier if you keep temptation at bay by not buying junk food like crisps, cakes, biscuits or sweets. If others in your household demand these items then ask them to buy and consume them outside the home.

Children will not suffer if they do not have junk food but will suffer if they don’t eat a healthy balanced diet like the Cretan diet. By getting all the family on board in eating healthier you’ll be doing them all a favour.

Set Realistic Goals

DIET MOTIVATION
When you start the Cretan Bowl Diet decide how much weight you need to lose and work towards that goal realistically, this will help with diet motivation.

You might find it helpful to look at our healthy weight chart and BMI indicator to see what your ideal weight should be.

But remember it is your own personal healthy shape and weight you are striving for not what the scientists say you should be.

The Cretan Bowl Diet is a quick weight loss diet but ideally, you should aim to lose about 2 pounds a week.

Remember that, while this may not sound like a lot, you're more likely to achieve permanent weight loss if you do it slowly and steadily and keep the motivation to lose weight.

Reward Yourself

MOTIVATION TO LOSE WEIGHT
Either weekly or monthly give yourself some form of reward for sticking with the Cretan Bowl Diet and shedding excess weight.

By rewarding yourself it will strengthen your resolve to achieve your healthy shape and weight.

Treats, such as a beauty treatment, manicure or pedicure, make you look and feel good.

Or you could treat yourself to some new make up, jewellery, shoes or handbag.

Don’t Be Tough On Yourself

If you don't reach your goal weight or measurements each week, don't be too tough on yourself or get despondent.

If you aren't losing as much weight as you would like it’s possible you've just reached a plateau. Keep at it and the weight will shift.

I promise!

Resistance

The key to staying motivated, resisting unhealthy foods and to a successful diet is staving off hunger. The hungrier you feel, the more likely your willpower will weaken.

Eat the recommended amounts on the Cretan Bowl Diet and no less and you should never feel so hungry that you need to binge.

Drink the recommended amount of water and try the Cretan Bowl Diet slimming tea.

The special blend is a perfect diet tea and can really help with promoting quicker metabolic function and weight loss.

Find The Exercise You Love

Weight Loss Diet
COMBINE EXERCISE WITH A WEIGHT LOSS DIET
If you cannot face the gym, don’t want to join an exercise class or don’t have a local swimming pool handy then find some form of physical exercise that you love.

I used to endure both the gym and running but now I adore walking through the countryside and coastal paths of Crete. I love it so much that it doesn’t seem like a chore at all.

And as I live on the coast, sea temperature permitting, I adore swimming in the beautiful clear waters of the Mediterranean.

Sometimes for a change I stay indoors and do my own aerobic dancing to a compilation CD of 70’s disco music and party songs.

So choose something you’ll enjoy rather than endure. Remember any form of exercise can help with weight loss.

Meals Out

You do not have to become a social leper when on the Cretan Bowl Diet. You can dine out and enjoy a glass or two of wine without fear that you’ll succumb to scoffing three puddings from the sweet trolley.

Look carefully at the menu. Look first for some form of protein like a steak, chicken fillet or salmon steak. Then either order the cooked vegetables that are served with the protein minus the potatoes or order a mixed salad.

Even Chinese, Indian or Mexican restaurants have a wide choice of proteins and vegetables with no need to consume bad carbs in the form of rice, noodles or bread.

Eat only the same amount that you would at home. You will feel fulfilled and contented and give a firm and self-satisfying "no thank you” when offered dessert.

The same applies to buffet menus at parties or functions you attend. Head straight for the chicken legs or cheese board (minus the crackers or biscuits).

Pile your plate with salad. Have the same amount you would normally fill your bowl with and no more.

Drink Water

DRINK WATER
I cannot stress enough the importance of drinking plenty of water on the Cretan Bowl Diet.

Water can decrease your appetite. It is hard to distinguish between being thirsty and being hungry, so drink water first before turning to food.

If you feel thirsty you are already dehydrated so drink water throughout the day rather than trying to gulp down three or floor glasses in one go.

Water is vital for a variety of bodily functions including removal of waste products, carrying nutrients, and regulating body temperature. Water helps reduce fluid retention, and helps keep bowel functions normal.
